How to shop at Walgreens

Walgreens is a great place to shop because you have many opportunities to get FREE items each week. All it takes is a little planning ahead and a little patience.

Walgreens offers something called a Register Reward (RR) with select sale items. When you buy a qualifying item a Register Reward will print out after you pay. You can use these like cash on your next purchase at Walgreens. The name of the product that earned the reward will also print out on the front of the Register Reward. There are a few rules to keep straight when using Register Rewards, but once you get the hand of it, you can roll these rewards over and over again off of one initial investment.

·       Most products have limit to one RR print out per transaction. Example: If Crest toothpaste earns you a $2 RR you can’t buy 2 and get a $4 RR. Look in the ad circular for limits.
·       You cannot use the same RR to buy the same product. Example: You can’t use the $2 RR from the Crest on another Crest product to earn more rewards. If you do you will not get another RR from that purchase.
·       A RR counts as a coupon. At Walgreens you must have the same number of products as you do coupons. All you have to do is find some cheap “filler” items to make up the difference.

Another great thing about Walgreens is that they print store coupons in their ad circular. You can use these coupons to “stack” with a manufacture coupon to get even more savings!

The most effective way to shop at Walgreens is to roll your RR’s. This means using your RR’s on products that will earn you the same amount of RR’s back. Sometimes though you might not be able to find an “even roll” item. If this is the case try to find an item that will give you as close to the same amount in RR’s back.

Example:
Crest toothpaste gives you a $2 RR
Use that RR to purchase another item that costs $2 and that will give you $2 RR back.

If you keep doing this you will be able to get TONS of free items. I suggest for your fist trip to build up your RR’s to about $20. You can then keep rolling the $20 in RR’s on free items each and every week!

Here is a bonus! Sometimes you can find an item that will generate a RR and also a coupon to go with the product. In most cases this will give you an “even roll” or a moneymaker!

Example:Crest toothpaste costs $2.99 and will earn you $2 in RR.
-        Use a $1 coupon
-        Get $2 RR back
= FREE or an “even roll”

OR

Crest Toothpaste costs $2.99 and will earn you $2 in RR.
-        Use a $2/1 coupon
-        Get $2 RR back
= Moneymaker of $1!!

Also note that RR’s usually expire within 2 weeks of earning them. Follow this link to read Walgreens coupon policy.

*When you go to Walgreens, be sure to pick up their monthly coupon booklet. These can be found as soon as you walk in with the ad circulars.
